Gradual Progression:
After completing your first solo skydive, you may enter the gradual progression program. This Program gives you several hours of one-on-one coaching, and helps you develop the skills you need to come fly with us in the sky. You begin with a series of Instructor Assisted Deployment (IAD) solo jumps from around 4000’.
The first is an Awareness Jump, in which we develop your ability to hold a stable arch with a head-up position, and to be aware of your surroundings.
After a successful Awareness Jump we begin to train you to do Practice Pulls. After this instruction session is over, we put it to the test in the sky! After 3 practice pulls, with 2 in a row being successful, we move you along to freefall.
We start by increasing the altitude, and as we go higher, we add new skills for you to
develop. After reaching 50+ seconds of freefall over a course of 12 to 15 jumps, we
dive out with you for your solo check-out jump.
Once you have passed this level, we go over additional basic training and then sign you off to have a CSPA Solo Certificate.
This Rating allows you to jump at all Canadian Drop Zones.
$75 for your second jump, which includes the gear rental and instructing
$79 for jumps under 6000' or $99 above 6000', includes the gear rental and
Instructing.
After achieving your Solo Certificate, Jump tickets are $69 including gear
rental, for jumps
from 12,500’.
Accelerated Freefall (AFF):
Once you have completed your first skydive you may choose AFF as our other option to get your Solo Certificate.
This course is $1,500 for 8 levels (8 jumps) if the course paid for in advance, or you can pay for each level as you go. The 8 level course takes you right to your Solo license. A
Skydiver may have to do a level over if the instructor is not satisfied.
We offer a reduced rates if a level needs to be repeted. We
recommend the AFF course be taken over a period of 1 to 3 weekends...AFF starts
with two-on-one instructing, both on the ground and in the air. You go right
up to 12,500' and jump out with the instructors holding on to you.
After the first 3 levels are completed, you advance to one-on-one coaching, again, both on the ground and in the air. We concentrate on body position, altitude-awareness, practice pulls, main canopy activation, canopy control, spotting, starting-and-stopping turns, 90˚ turns, pilot briefing, gear-up and pin checks. The training is very intense and will speed up your progression considerably.
We also offer a 5 level AFF course for $1,150.00 This takes you threw the same first 5 levels of the 8 Level AFF but does not get you your solo license at the end of the program. You can continue jumps towards your solo with a Jump master ($99/jump)
The gradual progression course teaches all of the same elements, but does not have in air coaching and requires a few more jumps. These courses are both excellent ways to continue in the world's most exciting sport.
"A” CoP. (Certificate of Proficiency)
The next step, after your exciting journey to achieving your Solo Certificate, is the “A” CoP. It is one of the most enjoyable ratings to achieve. It includes one-on-one training in the air with Edmonton Skydive's best coaches. Funding to subsidize some of the cost of coaching for youths is available through the Alberta Sport Parachute Association (ASPA). The A COP is an internationally recognized rating. You may skydive anywhere in the world once you achieve it.
The fun doesn't stop there.
We can continue coaching and skydiving with you right up to achieving the highest CoPs. In addition, instructor and coach ratings are available. So whether you want to sky dive recreationally every couple of weekends or become a professional skydiver, we’re here, ready and willing, to train you to get there.
